Riverrun ADHD Coaching
Sensitive Queer and Trans friendly ADHD Coaching
You are not broken. You have ADHD
My name is Joan O’Sullivan.
I’ve struggled my whole life with ADHD, only getting a diagnosis in 2020. I discovered in 2023 that I’m transgender and queer. All of a sudden, my life made sense.
Starting out as a photographer in the 1980s, I went to University for the first time in 1990 to get an MBA. After that I worked as a marketing executive for almost 20 years. Until AHDH and depression ended my career. I’ve been unable to work since due to the severity of my depression. In April 2025, I figured out I’m also autistic. Quite a revelation. It explains so much.
I’ve learned so much about depression and ADHD since. Having someone to talk to about ADHD would have made a huge difference in my life. I want to be that person for others. I can draw on a lifetime of successes and failures to understand what will make a difference for you.
My coaching practice is based on the idea that ADHD is a condition, not a sentence. The worst thing about having it is how we blame and denigrate ourselves. Negative reinforcement doesn’t work and doesn’t help. Better to accept, affirm and adapt.
The great thing about banging your head against the wall, my father used to say, is how good it feels when you stop.
But the most important thing is to change our thinking. We are not broken or lacking. We are different. Changing our thinking changes our lives. Especially true for gender non conforming and LGBTQA+ people.
Together, we can find tools and systems to help you adapt and reach your goals, long or shot term.
We are like left handed. There’s nothing wrong with being left handed, but they have to adapt to a world not made for them. I want to encourage you to be who you are. To live authentically. Only by embracing our true selves can we transcend.
I live in Toronto, and practice over the Internet.
My rate is C$40 for a 25 minute session, C$70 for a 50 minute session.
My fees are not covered by insurance at this time.
Sessions are flexible according to your needs. Need 2 20 min sessions every week? We can do that. Need a 2 hour session every 3 weeks? We can do that too. Or almost anything in between.
I will work with you to find systems and tools that work for you. Everyone’s ADHD is different and each solution set has to be different as well.
Please contact me for a free 20 minute introduction to see if we have a good fit.
